The Comedy Crate was formed in the hazy summer of 2016. Three friends, Conor, Mike and KJ, who are all obsessed with watching live comedy, decided that Northampton needed a new comedy night, and resolved to run the best night that they could for the benefit of their town.

We set about looking at venues, comedians, and all the little things that go into putting on a great comedy night, and decided on The Lab as the home for our first venture. The first ever Comedy Crate night was in November 2016 and was headlined by the hilarious Olaf Falafel in front of a packed house.

We have been running a monthly night since then. Each has been sold out, and has had loads of positive feedback from audience members, the venue and the comedians alike.  Headliners at The Lab included Rory O’Hanlon, President Obonjo, Bobby Mair and David Trent.

As the nights were going better than we ever could have expected, we decided that it was time that Northampton was well overdue a comedy festival, and we built one, bringing the likes of Ed Byrne, James Acaster and Nish Kumar to Northampton. Off the back of this we are moving our monthly night to The Charles Bradlaugh and also supplying acts for the renowned monthly comedy night at The Picturedrome. Find more details of our monthly nights on this site and on our social media (links at the bottom of the page).

Whether you are looking at buying tickets, performing at one of our nights or a prospective venue, we would love to hear from you. You can contact us through this website or at welovecrates@gmail.com

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has been involved with us up until now. Whether you have worked at the venues, helped to promote the event, entertained our audiences or, most importantly, bought a ticket and joined us for a laugh, we are very grateful.

Thank you,

Conor, Mike and KJ
